Teaching

The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences takes teaching seriously. Many of our graduate students hope to become professors one day and are excelling both as students and teaching assistants at Tufts. There are also a number of graduate students who, while wishing to pursue other careers, are interested in learning more about college/university-level teaching as well.

Regardless of their career aspirations, there are a variety of resources available for Arts and Sciences graduate students interested in learning more about teaching in academia. Middle East expert Leila Fawaz, professor of history and former director of the Fares Center for Eastern Mediterranean Studies is a member of the distinguished Council on Foreign Relations (a major United States think tank of experts from business, industry, and the academy), an overseer at Harvard University, and a member of the Comité Scientifique of the Maison Méditerranéenne des Sciences de l'Homme at the Université de Provence.
