Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT)
Launched in 2006, the Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT) is a resource for both Tufts faculty and teaching assistants interested in pursuing careers in academia. Taking advantage of a growing body of knowledge about learning and thinking processes, including the role of active learning, the integration of teaching and research, long-term retention, communication, problem finding and problem solving, creativity, practical learning, leadership, and diverse learning and thinking styles, the CELT is dedicated to helping all Tufts faculty and students maximize their potential. To achieve this end, the CELT has identified three main goals: - To act as a clearinghouse and a central resource for teaching-related initiatives at Tufts.
- To organize workshops on specific topics throughout the year. Upcoming workshop topics include: "Teaching a Large Lecture Class," "Dealing with Plagiarism," "Effective Assessment," and "Teaching Diverse Students"
- To provide a semester-long faculty fellow seminar for which participants receive course-release or a stipend.
