Philosophy

Degrees Offered: M.A.
http://ase.tufts.edu/philosophy/programs/graduate.shtml
617-627-3230

The program is designed primarily for promising students who wish to pursue a Ph.D. in philosophy but who either lack an undergraduate philosophy major or whose undergraduate preparation in philosophy would not qualify them for a first-tier doctoral program. Students with other career plans or backgrounds are admitted on a case-by-case basis. The program is full time.

Research strengths with particularly strong interdisciplinary implications include ethical, social, and political philosophy applied to global justice; the philosophy of mind and language applied to the cognitive sciences; empirical linguistics; and contemporary research into the nature of consciousness.

Additional areas of strength are the history and philosophy of science; continental philosophy; and the philosophies of law, feminism, mathematics, and logic.
