The program includes seven concentrations: ecology, behavior and evolution; genetics and molecular biology; developmental biology; neurobiology and animal behavior; cell physiology; conservation and the environment; and biotechnology (with a focus on molecular biology and applied aspects of biotechnology). The program provides students the chance to interact with faculty and students involved in other specialized areas, an opportunity that often leads to new ideas for cross-disciplinary research.
There are two master's degree options, one requiring independent research and a thesis and the other focusing on course work, with research optional. Applicants must indicate which option they want.
Applications for the master's thesis option and doctoral programs are accepted only for the fall semester.
Applications for the master's course work program are accepted for the fall or spring semester.
Applicants should have the equivalent of an undergraduate major in biology.
